According to exwhuemployee we have activated his release clause at 25m and are prepared to pay him a hefty wage to obtain his services.

My view is he performed excellent last year but i wouldnt be spending over the odds for a 29 year old who hasnt got much of a point to prove after winning the league.

I reckon Wenger's been told he needs to win something next season or he's gone.

He's been building for a future that hasn't happened for about the last 10-12 years.

On the face of it, seems a bit of a weird move for him.

On one hand he's a natural goalscorer with pace to burn. On the other hand, he's not even African with some odd EU passport scam going on.

I was chatting to an Arsenal ST holder yesterday and he said he hopes they don't sign him as they don't play counter attacking football.

I get that OneMac, I'm saying maybe it's a blessing as Zaza is younger and maybe cheaper.

Re: Jamie vardy
He's the type of player Wenger wanted Walcott to become, huge counter attacking threat and on the back of last season best premiership finisher inside the 18 yard box.

I still think he'll be a flop if he goes there.

Goose we have absolutely zero chance of signing Vardy.

Re: Jamie vardy
Zaza is a younger version of Vardy for about the same price - much rather we go there.

I'm surprised he's even thinking over Arsenal's offer. 29, moving to one of the biggest clubs in Europe, big increase in wages, moving to London. I would've thought he'd bite their hand off.

He's 29. 4 year contract takes him to 33. No sell on value. Could be a one season wonder. Swerve,.

If you do try to discuss transfers on the transfer thread, other posters have a hissy-fit about it.

Hard to know how and where to have a football discussion on here at the moment.

Agree that the transfer thread would get more attention if it wasn't locked. People forget it's there.

Re: Jamie vardy
To be honest with you Polite that is the worst thing about this forum. The transfer rumour thread get's hardly any response to a dedicated one. The reason for that is nobody really looks at the pinned threads.

Re: Jamie vardy
Thinking more about this, it's really in our interests that Arsenal get Vardy. They are desperate for a striker, and if they don't get Vardy they surely turn to the likes of Lacazette. Honestly, who else is even available to them?

Agreed Bernie, he'd be a fool not to take this opportunity.

Meanwhile Sullivan on Vardy bid.

Chance to sign for Arsenal, one of the biggest clubs in the league.

He's 29, if he has a poor Euro's and poor start to the season then thats it for him.

If they're offering a 4 year deal, that's massive for player that was playing for Fleetwood Town 4 years ago

Re: Jamie vardy
Chance to do what? Win the league? He's just done that.
